Big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, allowing you to step into the worlds of favorite films, starting with Toy Story Land.
The new 11-acre Toy Story Land will transport you into Andy’s backyard, where you’ll feel like you’ve been shrunk to the size of Woody and Buzz, surrounded by oversized toys like building blocks, plastic buckets and shovels, and game board pieces
The land will feature two new attractions one expanded favorite.
Family-friendly roller coaster – All on the back of Slinky Dog, this coaster will zip and zoom, plunge and coast as it takes guests on a fun, toy-filled adventure throughout the new land.
Alien saucers attraction – The famous little green aliens from the movie will take guests around for a spin in their very own flying saucers. The music, lighting and sound effects add to the flurry of action, while “The Claw” looms over.
Toy Story Mania! will receive an expansion that adds a third track to this popular attraction.
MAY THE FIREWORKS BE WITH YOU!
If all that’s not enough for the upcoming reimagined Disney’s Hollywood Studios, weekend nights will feature a new fireworks spectacular set to the iconic score of the Star Wars movies.
In our last post, we showed the beginnings of Star Tours at Disneyland in 1986, which was the first presence of George Lucas’ Star Wars in a Disney park. Light speed ahead to 2015, it was announced today that both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will receive an elaborate new Star Wars-themed land, with expansions over 14 acres each. The new lands promise to bring guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
29 years ago this month, workers were busy at light speed, making final preparations for the opening of Star Tours in Disneyland. In this image, a Starspeeder vehicle arrives and is being lowered into the attraction. The ride featured Captain Rex in the cockpit, voiced by Paul Reubens (aka Pee-wee Herman) who brought you on a futuristic wild ride to the moon of Endor. While remaining a favorite in Disneyland and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World today, you can still board a Starspeeder, but now it is piloted by none other than C-3PO and you’ll voyage to new destinations such as Tatooine, Naboo or Hoth, and come face to face with the likes of Yoda, Princess Leia or even Darth Vader. In fact, there are over 50 combinations of stories you may experience!
One epic day. Eight select sailings. From January through April, 2016, the force can be with you on Star Wars Day at Sea aboard select Disney Cruises. Contact me for details and book soon before the Stormtroopers book all the cabins!!! 🙂
